For me, it’s conversations with the distillers and producers. Brand ambassadors can provide some fun insight, but I’m more interested in the why and how of it all.

For expos, I haven’t gone to whisky show and whisky live for a while as I find they are sometimes filled with people trying to get their tickets worth of alcohol in them. I did enjoy Whisky Abbey though, there were more producers there happy to talk to the consumers.

As a newer member (class of 2021), I consider myself lucky to have tried 9 of the Gillies bottlings so far, but it does mean I have a somewhat restricted view of the bottlings.

So far, the Highland Park 18 has been far and away the stand out.

I also really enjoyed the Craigellachie, The Imperial and the Angelo’s Port Charlotte. Each had a lot to offer in the glass and on the next drink!

The Royal Brackla and Chief’s Son I found to be a very solid whiskies if not hugely stand out, though I think the Chief’s Son has a bit more to offer a seasoned whisky drinker.

The Glenfarclas Norm Case and Highland 40th were both good expressions and consistent with the distillery style.

I’ll second Marc’s comment, happy for the oppurtunity to try some more and offer feedback!
